![]() ![]() ![]() ' In the late 1950s, my brother and I, and a few cousins, were given all the old instruments. The tuners appear to be enclosed so are more than likely replacements as these do not. Higher end pre-War Regals had a fancier logo and post-War instruments came with a blue oval logo. The oval green label with the crown (as well as the lack of ornamentation) indicates lower end model made in the 1930s or early 1940s. Mike Auldridge played a Model 37 from this series with the Seldom Scene in the ’70s and ’80s, and kept another only a few serial numbers different as a backup. Regal began using solid headstocks on all models of Dobros in a new serial number sequence beginning apparently at one and continuing into four digits. Assuming it's a Regal RD-45, I would guess a worth between $200 and $400 in the condition shown in the photo. You should contact Saga Music for identification of your guitar. There are no numbers on the guitar in question because Saga/Regal probably didn't give their guitars serial numbers when they started selling them.
